Re: Once more I will try
In Response To: Once more I will try ()

Oh, SJD, I feel for you. Except instead of 4 attempts, I had about 50 in the past 10 years. I am right now 11 days caffeine-free, and this time feels like the last time. I have my food and potato to support me. It took me 6 weeks of slow weaning, and it felt good to do it that slow. I was going to reduce each week for just 4 weeks, but I had some extra stress in the middle of it, so I just stayed longer on some doses as I got through it.

Why is it difficult? 1, because it's an addiction, and 2, because it is a very socially-acceptable one. As a matter of fact, almost everyone I know thinks I'm crazy for wanting to get off it. But we're used to others thinking we're crazy for taking care of ourselves, right?

Have you seen this page? http://www.radiantrecovery.com/resourcecenter/otheraddictions.htm
There is a section for caffeine / stimulant use and it really helped me.

Good luck, we're here for you!
