Re: Susan S: Joys plus a question

:h12) Allison and Mosaic, thanks for taking the time to reply.

Yes, my journal has been invaluable in helping me to sort but it's taking some time. I haven't had coffee in twenty years or more, and spicy foods and onions and peppers have never been my friends! (Thanks for reminding me how much money I save not being a coffee-lover!) :h11)

Yes, Allison, part of my problem is probably my having been dabbling with dairy a bit. I have been mostly gluten-free and dairy-free for several years now, and in the past having some cream and cheeses now and again only gave me congestion. That was then, this is now. :h1)

Thankfully, french fries, sausage, pizza and other things I thought of as food in the old days don't call my name and in fact make me feel yucky just thinking of them.

Someone recently talked about my food restrictions being upsetting, like maybe they feel sorry for me? I continue to think that the foods I *choose* to eat or not eat add to my health and well-being. The smallest tastes of things I used to eat copious amounts of remind me very quickly that I am not restricting. I am choosing the best life for me and my total being! :h11)

I am also in the process of "turning down the volume in my life." Finishing a degree I was working on, ending an internship, going back to my sewing room for fun creative expression, finding time to be alone in stillness again are all things that are undoubtedly making a difference in my health and well-being too!
Ever grateful,
Susan S

: Aha, an excuse to have to get the
: expensive coffee! (I'm sorry, but
: any coffee but Starbucks makes me
: feel ill) :h1)

: I have noticed that if I have a latte
: (which I love but seldom get
: because they are expensive) I
: often get a stomach ache. I'm
: assuming it's something about the
: milk, although other dairy
: products don't seem to have that
: effect. Also, if I have it near a
: mealtime, I lose my appetite. So I
: guess it's just as well that I
: very seldom get one!

: And I used to get a stomach ache when
: I would eat my ex husband's
: favorite meal to cook - sausages
: and french fries (not oven fries,
: but the frozen ones that you
: actually cook in oil). Spicy foods
: don't seem to bother my stomach at
: all, but too much oil or fat does.
: I really don't enjoy eating really
: fatty foods anyway, if the fat is
: obvious when you are eating it,
: like in really fatty sausages or
: really oily french fries, or
: American bacon.
