Re: how do you cope in really hot weather?

I think the salt probably makes sense in hot weather because we are sweating more and losing salt. I was out checking hawk nests in very hot weather on Sunday and sweating very heavily, and I had some blue corn tortilla chips later that day for the salt.

I find that I want fewer browns in hot weather, and I tend to be more attracted to cold foods and drinks. I want things that are refreshing.

I've always been tempted to try making protein shake popsicles. I might have to try it this summer. We're having very hot weather, over 100 degrees fahrenheit. Fortunately my office and my house are cool. It's not too humid so our evaporative cooler is working pretty well and we have two window air conditioners in the house as well. But I was outside as it was getting dark, watering plants, and it was still hot outside.

I've also noticed that my appetite is not as strong as usual, but I haven't exercised as much so that may play into it. Of course in the summer we tend to be less active too because of the heat. In the winter my body has to use a lot of energy just to stay warm.

Today for lunch I have leftover steak, sweet potato and green beans, and I will probably eat them all cold.

Mint leaves are wonderful in water too - I just crumble them a bit. Cucumber and mint together would be tasty, I think.
