Not quite according to plan

*getting paid to spend time outdoors at the Nature Center

Yesterday I helped out at an event that went from 10:30 to 12:30. I work for an Early Head Start program, and it was an event for families at a local state park. I am a volunteer at the park, as well as working for the Early Head Start program, so whenever we have an event there, I am asked to be a guide. I intended to take my lunch with me, but in the process of carrying water and snacks to my car, I forgot it. As it turns out, there really wouldn't have been any opportunity to eat it without being rude, so next time I will eat first. (In the past, we served actual lunch to the families so I would just eat that, but this time it was just snacks and most of them were not suitable.) We did have cheese sticks as one of the snacks, so I ate a couple of those.

I was really hungry by the time I returned to the office! Someone came to me with a computer problem, but I told her I would need to eat first. I normally eat again at 4, and I wasn't hungry then after the late lunch, but I ate anyway because I knew I needed food after the late lunch, and my husband and I had to do an errand after work and wouldn't be home until after 7.

I will be paying extra attention to eating well and taking good care of myself over the next few days, and will make a note that I may be feeling a little grumpy.

It was a good reminder that no matter how well you plan, sometimes things don't go the way you intended. But you just do the best you can, and make a note of what to do better next time.
