Traveling

*a screech owl calling in our yard early this morning (and no, they don't screech) (Speaking of which, one of my joy dots a few days ago was that I was watching an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and I heard both a Western Screech Owl and a Great Horned Owl during the outdoor scenes.)

I am leaving today on a trip. I will be attending computer training on Monday and Tuesday, but because it's near where my family lives, I am leaving a little early so I can spend time with my father and sister and attend a friend's Halloween party.

During the training, breakfast and lunch will be provided. Breakfast and one of the lunches will be a buffet, and one of the lunches will be a box lunch. I will have a refrigerator in my hotel room, and I will have the opportunity to go to a grocery store before heading to the training.

For the plane, I packed chicken and green beans, which I steamed whole so I can eat them with my fingers. I also have oat cakes. I also have a bag of yam bars that I just took out of my freezer to use on the trip, and I packed some sweet potato gluten-free crackers. I have two sandwich bags with protein powder in case I need to supplement what's in the breakfast buffet. Tomorrow I will purchase gluten-free bread and a carton of almond milk. One of the markets near my father's house has chicken salad all packaged to go, so I'll buy some of that to take as back up for the lunches. If I don't need to use it at the training, I'll use it on the flight back to Albuquerque.

My sister and I have planned a shopping trip, and I'm going to be seeing a friend from grade school who I haven't seen in almost 50 years. The training is on Cape Cod. I'm excited!
