Why is this called George's Shake? When I ran a treatment center in California, my senior counselor was named George. He is a recovering heroin addict who used to run a meth lab. He is a chemist at heart. We were looking for a mix to give the guys in early recovery. We were playing around with options. The guys called it George's Shake. It stuck. What does it taste like? Well, the taste itself is sort of neutral. How you make it has a huge impact on the taste. If you make it correctly, it tastes awesome. If you don't it can be so bad you will never want it again. It is like sugar sensitive people, a product of extremes. Either really, really good, or really bad. Not much in the middle.   How Do I use it?   Can I use this as a meal replacement? That is what we designed it for.   Is this a weight loss product? Nope. It is a meal supplement for sugar sensitive people.   Should I use the shake before I go to bed? Nope, not recommended, it will keep you up.   Can I give it to my husband? Most husbands like it and say it makes them feel great.   Can have it on the run? It is a perfect meal for on the go.   Can I give this to my elderly mother? Absolutely. I wish I had had it for mine.   Can I give this to my dog? My dog LOVES it. But I don't let her have much. Can I feed it to my birds? One customer reports "I feed it in small amounts (1/2 tsp or so) to my birds and they love it. As soon as they hear the blender they start squawking, because they know what's coming."   Can I use it if I am pregnant? Yes, it will actually help the nausea because it is such a dense protein.   Is it kosher? No.   Can you use the left over gritty stuff as a body scrub? Yes.   When to Use it   Can I take this camping? Yes, it is perfect for camping.   Can I use this more than once a day? No, use food.   Can I use it before my workout? Have 1/2 before and 1/2 after.   How can I fix it when traveling? I have one of those hand held mixers and a plastic shaker jar. Works really well.   The Ingredients   What are those little orange specs? The beta carotenes.   What are the gritty things in the bottom of my glass? The oats.   I thought you said *no sugars* - why does it have 3 grams of sugar? Those are naturally occurring sugars in the oats.   Why isn't it sweet? It doesn't have sugar.   Why is there so much sodium? This was the type of soy the manufacturer used. We will change it in the next batch.   How did you decide on these vitamins? It was a pretty thoughtful process. I found a blend which had an incredibly positive impact on those in recovery, and adjusted it in the best way I could think of to support sugar sensitive people.   One serving has about 20 grams of protein. I am supposed to have 25-30 per meal. What should I do? The liquid you add has a little protein in it, so when you add it to the shake mix, the amount of protein increases.   Why isn't there any iron? We can get what we need from other things. It tends to constipate people and I don't like that part.   Can I add cocoa powder to it? Yep - plain powder, not the sugar one   Why does it have soy? Why does it have egg? Why does it have milk protein? I have found that a mixed protein base works best for most people.   I am lactose intolerant. Can I use this product? Try it and see. Many people who are, find they have no problem with it.   Why don't you have different flavors? Plain means you can add whatever YOU like. Small company. Limited resources.   When will you make an all soy product? When will you make a no soy product? When will you make a non-dairy product? I won't. Simple. One option, you get creative.   Do I continue to take my multivitamins? The mix is pretty complete. You don't really need to add anything.   After I drink it, my stomach makes weird noises and I get gas. This may be from the vitamin C level. Use less powder and drink it over time. See if that helps.   What liquids are best to use in it? Oat milk seems to be the number one choice. Then soymilk or cow's milk. NOT water by itself and not all juice because that would make it too sweet. Rice milk generally has a lot of added sweetener and not added protein. Same for almond milk.   Should I add oat meal or is it in it already? If I need to add it, should it be cooked or ground up/raw and how much? The mix has enough oats for the average person. If you're a very big person or are pregnant or nursing, you can add more. Uses raw rolled oats and play it by taste. Ask your body.   Getting it   How long will it take to get it? We send it out priority mail. Mail goes out from the office twice a week.   What does a subscription mean? We will send your order out automatically each month. You don't have to remember to fill anything out.   I live in Canada, can I get it? Can you send it to Europe? Yep.   Do you have a way to reorder the shake so I don't have to re-enter all those pesky numbers? Yes, I can keep your info on file.   Stuff Questions   I can get soy powder in bulk for $4.95 a pound. Why is this so pricey? Because it is a specially formulated, unique blend of vitamins and minerals that is a complete meal for $1.75 which you can only get from me As opposed to what one of our customers found: "I went out to breakfast a few weeks ago and the whole meal (in quite an inexpensive little coffee shop) was $8.00."   Why isn't the jar full? It is very airy when they blow it in and then it settles.   No matter what I do to it, I don't like it. It may not be for you. Some people don't like it. Others love it!!   Why can't I get it in the store? Because we are producing it in small lots and distributing directly.   Can I become a distributor? You can freeze the powder but not the mixed drink - it will be gross.   Why is it in a plastic jar? The manufacturer didn't have the ability to put it in cardboard tubes.   When are you making a bar? Not for a long time. It is a very complicated process.   Can you formulate shake that just needs added water? I am working on it.   Any plans to make a shake that comes in a convenient pop-top can?
