Hi {!firstname_fix}

Well I am in the San Diego area attending a conference on biofeedback and having a nice little vacation along the way. Puppies are in new homes, don’t have any rescues, dogs are settled, and it is a nice time to just take a week to play. I love the beach, I love the area and I am having a wonderful time.

These classes will begin the week of September 3, 2007. Please click on the name of the class you wish to join and it will take you to the registration page:

Radiant Store Tour is a free guided tour of the store. David will be leading this class so if you want to get to know the guy that makes it all work, come sign up so you can show your support for the work he does to keep you happy.

Step 5: Browning Your Family is one of our favorites. Learn the art of whole grains. Get lots of information that you won't find anywhere else. I picked the brains of one of the world's leading *brown* experts for this class.

I am working on a new fall schedule while I am in San Diego.

The current class schedule is on line. Click here to see what is planned. Please do not sign up for classes that are not yet scheduled.

A number of you have asked me how the classes work. Check the class list page for more information on this. The classes are done online and you do not have to be at your computer at any set time. It does not matter whether you are in the US, Europe, the Far East or Australia, you simply respond on your own time. And although I advertise that the classes are one or two weeks, sometimes we are a little flexible and they may run longer.

And please go read the questions and answers before you write to me. If you have trouble getting through the process, write the tech forum.

Please feel free to pass this week's newsletter on to your friends and family. Don't forget to let me know what you like and would like to see me cover.

Be sure to visit our Radiant Recovery® website and Community Forum regularly.

Warmly,
Kathleen

** Quote From Kathleen **

Remember that sugar-sensitive people tend to be people of extremes. You may feel either totally awash in feelings, or totally disconnected.

** Testimonial for the Week**

Jeannie, Step 7

I had an easy, *uneventful* detox from sugar. Despite the lack of drama, it was a profound, deep change. Immediately, I had no cravings--hallellujah! But I also felt uneasy and unsettled. (Some of that was my diet cola detox, unwisely untertaken hard on the heels of sugar.)

I counted the months till I could get to weight loss and taper off my meds and feel fixed. I wondered when I would feel grounded again. I wondered when my anxiety would go away. I fretted, and my fretful posts were annoying me. I decided to stop posting inside the problem. I waited and kept doing the food. I got exercise steady.

One morning I woke up and realized I was ready to meditate. About 2 weeks later peace fell over me like soft mist.

**Radiant Kitchen**

By Naomi Muller, Step 7, author of Nutritious and Delicious Cookbook.

This recipe from my cookbook is a great dip for vegetables or to spread on Ryvitas. You can pack it in those little tiny disposable take out containers and pack in your kid's lunchbox, along with some Ryvitas (or other whole grain cracker) and some cut up vegetables.

CHUMUS

  • 2 cans of chickpeas, drained or 4 cups of cooked chickpeas
  • 8 oz. tahini (sesame butter - mixed according to package directions)
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • 3 Tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp paprika (garnish)
  • 2 tsp chopped parsley (garnish)
Blend all ingredients, except oil and garnishes. Place in serving dish and drizzle oil on top. Sprinke with paprika and parsley. Serve with vegetables, whole grain crackers and whole grain pita.

Variation: a) you can add 1/4 cup of cooked chickpeas to the blended mixture before drizzling the oil and topping with the garnishes b) you can add a few tablespoons of roasted peppers and omit the garnish of parsley and paprika

**Your Last Diet: More Than What You Think**

YLDonline is a membership program run directly by Kathleen DesMaisons herself.

YLD does funny things to people. Here is Mosaic’s report

I am so glad you are laughing! You must be healing! My daftest bit was thinking that if I got on slower it might say a lower number, and leaning over 10 times trying to get the dratted thing to say something different. Not to mention cutting my nails and taking my contact lenses out. The last actually quite helpful as I couldn't focus at all.

Course, with my manipulations, if I ever shifted it down half a pound, I'd go round pleased all day, or if it had the cheek to go up it would be all gloom and doom.

Im so glad thats all over. Isn't it totally amazing what the steps will cure!

If you are not a YLD member, come and join us. Click here if you are ready to change your life or just plain ole have fun.

OK, George's Original SHAKE is on its way to New Mexico. Man has this been frustrating! Barring the truck going off a cliff or being hyjacked, it should be here momentarily. Order now and the day it arrives, it will be out the door to you, I promise.

Please send questions and suggestions. I love hearing from you and truly want to help you do your program better.

**Making Your Program Successful**

Kathleen DesMaisons, Ph.D.

As you know, sometimes we have summer reruns. I really love this short little article. I hope you do too.

I have recently changed my program in a dramatic way, I decided it was time to lose the pounds that crept in with menopause. I had the *data* but needed to think through a plan of action. Here are the things that really helped me:

  1. I was really clear about what I wanted. I stopped pussyfooting around and made a definitive commitment. A goal, a time, an outcome.
  2. I wrote down the way I would get to my goal - a process that suits me, my lifestyle and my rhythm. Some of this came out of our weight loss class. I actually did the exercises the class was doing.
  3. I committed to keep on even when I get discouraged. When my personal power runs out, I might say, *ah, enough already, I am tired.* This time, I want the outcome and I am willing to push through the wall and I am finding the beginning of something new, a new understanding, a new power and sense of possibility. I like it.
  4. When I get stuck and mad and think I want a life like everyone else's....I just sit in my quiet awareness and wait. I stop pouting and remember I am choosing these changes because I want the outcome. No one is making me, I am choosing. And then I feel just fine.
The most important thing is that I am willing to put into practice what I know on a different level. This means I do it, just do it over and over. And *it*? That would be doing the food. Doing the food as it works for weight loss.

Hope this makes sense. It sure is working for me.
