November 5, 2012

Hi {!firstname_fix}

The trees are starting to drop their leaves now. So it feels like autumn here…this is a time when the sky turns deep, deep blue and everything starts to get quiet. Slowing, being still, getting the slow cooker out, flannel sheets all speak to my favorite time of year. I have written about an incredible reflection process I am using in the article this week. It is The Nano Way to being clear. It has shifted my energy and allowed me get really focused.

These classes will begin Wednesday, November 7, 2012. Please click on the name of the class and it will take you to the registration page:

Using Radiant Resources (1 week) - is a free orientation for those of you who are brand new and would like to find your way around town. Come sit on the top of our double-decker bus for a guided tour. And even if you are not brand new, this is a really fun class to reconnect with all the treats of the community.
Handling the Holidays: Thanksgiving (2 weeks) - This class will help you focus on gratitude rather than pie. Learn how to make this day a time of reflection and grace even if Uncle Sandy gets drunk and your sister asks about your weight. If you have never taken this class, take it now. If you have taken this class before, take it again. It is one of the BEST ways in the world to transform this holiday.
These classes will begin Wednesday, November 14, 2012. Please click on the name of the class and it will take you to the registration page:

**Testimonial of the Week **

Everyone is different. When I was a brand-new liaison on the binge list I thought it would be fun to have a "definitive definition" of what a binge is and then we could know when it stopped, so I asked everyone what a binge was.

What a naive idea that was for me. Binges are as unique as the individual, and they stop when the imbalance *for that individual* is stopped.

If the imbalance is with blood sugar, the binges can stop after step 3.

If the imbalance is with serotonin, they can stop after step 5.

If the imbalance is with BE, they can stop after step 7.

Why do I say "step 7" for BE instead of step 6? Because with BE, there are two issues - "priming" with intense sweet, and raising the baseline. Step 6 stops the priming. But in step 7 you do proactive BE raising activities.

When I see people past step 6 and still struggling, it's almost always because life has changed and the first 6 steps are no longer "spot on," or the person is not proactive about BE raisers. I have personally done both so I know how it goes. Then you hear things like "life hit me with BE and I wobbled." But if the BE baseline is raised, then the life hit does not do as much damage, if you get my meaning.

Connie

**Radiant Ambassadors **

What do you love about Radiant Recovery?

This very same question was posed on the Ambassadors list recently and this is what Mandie told us prior to leaving for Euro Ranch:

Hi All!

What I love about RR is how transformative it has been to my life, and knowing that if other people follow the steps, slowly and in order, they will also experience the same transformation. I love how it works!! My whole life has changed as a result of doing RR. No more binges. Better self-esteem. Body acceptance. More focused. Steady moods. Patience. Contentment. Joy. What's not to love?

I love sharing RR with people who seem to take an interest in knowing why (and how!) I don't eat sugar. A few people have bought PNP as a result. I have been on a strict budget this year (repairing the damage of my imbalanced behaviour last year), but now that my debt is repaid I really like the idea of buying old copies of PNP and giving them away.

In my area, I am becoming known as the person who knows all about sugar. At a party the other night, someone had a question about how sugar is processed in the body and someone called out to me to answer. I admitted I didn't know much about how the liver processes it (their question) but I could explain what happens with the brain. I had a captive audience and my friend commended me on how clearly I explained it (she's heard it a few times!).

I feel strongly that my calling in life is to take RR out in the wider public. I loved the vision you shared, Selena, in last week's newsletter - about it being mainstream knowledge, flyers in doctor surgeries, etc.

I am helping two people work through the steps at the moment. We meet up once a week to help them stay on track. They are now on step 3 and I love witnessing the changes they are experiencing. What Kathleen has created is phenomenal.

I want to do some more training with Kathleen and will discuss this with her at EuroRanch. I want to eventually make this my job in some way, so I am here to stay (smile).

**How I Found Radiant Recovery **

Hi everyone,

My name is Tammy and I live in Rochester Hills, Michigan. I have been on the PnP plan for several months and have seen amazing changes in my life! I am somewhere in step 2-3-4... :-) I haven't been able to master the journaling of step 2 but still moved on to step 3 and am loving it! I have suffered from depression for most of my life (I'll be 40 in July), and since getting enough protein and three meals a day I have found full relief from my depression! I am so grateful for Kathleen, her program and her team and I look forward to getting to know you all!

Cheers,
Tammy :-)

** Radiant Recovery® Store **

David manages the Radiant Recovery® Store. He is also Kathleen's oldest son.

For People

For People

For Dogs

Kathleen was first introduced to our Joint Response a number of years ago at the national Golden Retriever Dog show. One of the vendors had Joint Response and was showing a video about it that knocked her socks off. You can see it here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9Dt3LzbbiY&feature=youtu.be

At that point in time, I had recently moved to Albuquerque. My 8-year-old rottie, PJ, had severe arthritis. We gave him Joint Response and in 3 weeks he was acting like a puppy. So we started carry the dog stuff in the store.

We kept getting great reports. I asked the company if they were going to carry a human product. They said yes. So now we carry that. And they recently added a cream. Click on the products above to get more information on each.

As most of you know, Kathleen likes to learn about the things we carry. She started doing a fair amount of research about cetyl. Here is a pretty balanced discussion.

Please send questions and suggestions. I love hearing from you and truly want to help you do your program better.

The Step 3 list is a great place to stop by for those who are finding this a challenging step, or who are starting out or who would just like some extra support. We talk a lot about things like: What is a meal, exactly? How do I get my body to cooperate with eating "just" three meals a day? What are some tips to help me with consistent timing? And all sorts of other aspects of this step. We try to make it fun, because... well why not make it fun?? Since being the liaison for this list, I've been thrilled to see so many people come through and "graduate" to the next steps! It's a great place of support... come and join us! (And it matters not if you are new to the step, totally re-doing the step or just shoring up your Step 3 after being further along in the program.)

**Josie and the Unicorn **
Kathleen DesMaisons, Ph.D.

I was going to write about Sandy tonight. I think we all have been rocked this week. And many are still without power or heat or a home. My cousin posted on Facebook that she had convinced my 84-year-old Auntie and her boyfriend to leave their dark and cold house in Great Neck, Long Island and come and stay with her. She had been refusing all week. It touched me to see that fierce independence just being stubborn and silly. I am glad she is safe and all of you have been in my prayers.

I wanted to offer you some solace and joy…so here is the article about my darling Josie girl. I hope it will make you smile the way it does me.

This week is a special story. A number of us decided that we wanted to *convert* Halloween from a sugar orgy to a fun, fun party. We decided to have a costume party for the dogs and then take them trick or treating.

One of my friends adores my older Golden Retriever named Josie. She asked me if she could make Josie’s costume. I was thrilled. She lives in Boulder so I was given measuring instructions. Neck to tail, girth, space between eyes, space around neck, wrist size, distance across chest. I got regular updates and pictures of the process.

The unicorn would have a bonnet with a horn and little ears. The hooves would be little bi-colored booties, the bonnet would have a fabulous mane to match a removable tail. The material was specially chosen. And then the artistry began. It was so much fun to hear how it was progressing.

In the middle of the process, I heard that our local boutique dog store was sponsoring a costume contest. I just knew Josie would win. She would be the princess of Albuquerque because I knew she would have such a stunning costume.

The costume arrived, carefully packed with tissue and a toilet paper roll around the horn. On Saturday, we were set to get dressed. Josie actually liked it. We had to do a little personalization with safety pins. But we got the hooves in place, got the coats attached, the tail velcroed, and the cap in place. Then she leapt on the bed and rolled. The costume survived.

Off we went to the contest. There was mighty competition. I felt smug since *those* costumes were bought and of course Josie was decked in a handmade glory. We were number 24. When I took her down the runway, she pranced and when everyone clapped, she almost took a bow.

But she did not win. Peter pan and Tinkerbell won. But I want you to see how Josie felt about that. Here she is, with her costume slightly askew. This is radiance. There is nothing more than this smile, this joy in BEING. May we all be taught by smiles like this.
