December 7, 2015

Hi {!firstname_fix}

Well, this has been a week of shifting gears, catching up from jet lag, doing laundry and all the things one has to catch up on after being away. we have been having some very powerful discussions on several lists. I think these conversations will help us to reformulate our directions and style. We are at a funny place...a lot of new people and a lot of very skilled old-timers wanting to enhance their programs. Finding a way to integrate these two things will require some artful and creative thinking.

This class will begin Wednesday, December 9, 2015. Please Signup and it will take you to the registration page:

Brain Chemistry: Beta Endorphin

One of our most popular classes. It will teach you the core of the science behind the program. This is the outline for a critical part of sugar sensitivity, why you act the way you do and what you can do to change it. I love this class and so do all the people who have taken it. Somehow BE rocks!

Learning About YLD

Following in the grand tradition of the Using the Resources of the Community, this free *tour* will give you a sense of what joining YLD will and will not give you. Other than being able to talk about weight without being asked to talk about breakfast instead, LOL, you will learn about the process, the information you can learn, the chats and the list. It is a wonderful peek into the inner workings of our rather unique weightloss offering.

The second - Skilled Coaching - is for people who are step 7 and are interested in looking at healing the emotional and physical residuals of a lifetime of sugar addiction. These include healing shame, pain, misery and achieving fitness, heath and weight loss.

The coaching groups run in 2-week intervals and give you individualized attention to planning your own process, refining your food and knowing which steps to do when. The cost is $20 a week or $40 for each 2-week unit.

**Testimonial of the Week**

Someone tried to break into my car last night. I discovered it this morning when the lock on my driver's side door didn't work. Because of the way I park in my driveway, I also could not get into the passenger side (because I was right up next to an old, very substantial juniper hedge).

*Sigh.* A couple of years ago this would have been cause for a major freakout. Oh, no!!! Lots of DRAMA, poor MEEE, swirling and spinning around, lots of motion but not much traction -- you get the picture! I admit I'm not happy about it, and I'm a little spooked that someone was fooling around on/with my property, but I dealt with all the details this morning just fine. No drama. No freaking out. Just well, okay, step one, step two... I called work to say I would be late, called the auto club, they got a locksmith to let me into my car, called the police and filed a report, called my insurance company, called my landlord, called the dealership. No big deal, I was very good-humored with everyone I talked to and it came back to me big time; everyone was SO nice and good-humored back!

I had an estimate for the repair from the locksmith when I went to the dealership and was able to be very DBA about working with them to match the estimate from the locksmith. Took about $80 off the dealer's original price. Wow, I've NEVER done anything like that before!!! THAT was pretty exciting. In times past I would have just taken the car to the dealer and paid whatever they said it cost. But I was nice, they were nice, they can match the estimate from the locksmith, and I think the whole thing can be fixed without much bother at all.

I fully credit my steadiness on this program with being able to handle this situation without a lot of hassle. I absolutely love radiance!

Val

**Interesting Bits of Science**

Here is an interesting report.

Essentially they are saying our results suggest that personalized diets may successfully modify elevated postprandial blood glucose and its metabolic consequences.

I think we have been saying this for 17 years…..journal, discover your *best* proteins, carbs and eating. (smile)

**Radiant Recovery® Store**

People have been calling me all week about putting together special gift packages for the holidays. Maybe you have a friend you would like to have get a book and a journal. Call me at 505-345-3737 if you wish special gift pacs made up just for you.

A lot of you have been getting fish oil and EPA. I just wanted to remind you that much of the benefit of these oils comes in thinning your blood - making it less sticky. Sometimes thinning the blood will make you more vulnerable to bruising. If you take pycnogenol this won't happen. It makes the capillaries strong and flexible so you get the best of both worlds. Kathleen suggests you use them in tandem.

Our store has grown because of your requests and input. I like to think of this as the community service store - an interactive opportunity for people who are healing from sugar sensitivity. Let me know how I can best help you.

Please send questions and suggestions. I love hearing from you and truly want to help you do your program better.

**Radiant Your Last Diet**

As most of you know, YLDonline was started to support folks who want to lose weight. The entire program is structured to support our concept that if you heal the body first, then the weight loss will be permanent. In the process of the work, we discovered that some folks have bodies that are really resistant to losing weight. They have the motivation, the skill and the commitment, but the pounds would not budge. Rather than claiming failure, we took it as an opportunity to learn more. I went and found the last variables we needed for the weight loss resistant. And oh my, are folks getting results. It is so exciting for me to truly know that hope is possible. You do not have to be fat. This is not a magic pill, but it is a solution that is powerful, individual to you, and will end all those years of dieting.

I know that many folks are planning on a winter gift of the program. it is a great time to do so because we will be starting a YLD Book Study Group in early January.

Hanukkah is starting this evening so we will be talking about its meaning and how it can inform our lives. I like this discussion so perhaps you can read before you come to Living Chat.

**A Celebration of Light**

Kathleen DesMaisons, Ph.D.

Hanukkah is here. I have been lighting candles. New Mexico is very dark at night. The sky is clear and you can see light from very far away. I love seeing the candles as I stand outside and look in the house. David will be on the roof putting the reindeer up tonight. You can see them from all the way down the street. It makes me smile when I come home at night.

This month is the time of deepest darkness. We have these special days, days of celebrating that even in the darkness, a tiny spot of light can be seen. Many folks have wobbled and relapsed this month. And the feelings of relapse are always the fear and desperation that we all know so well. Christmas filled with sugar and treats is a double edged sword. We think those things are such a part of celebrating and that just a little won't matter. We think we will just *celebrate* and then January first we will once again make the resolve to clean it up and do it.

Today, I am going to invite you to try something new. Do not wait until January first, but today start holding the idea of light coming. Each choice we make can build more light. And connecting here to others who are committed and willing and gaining skill is a mighty tool. The loving and funny conversations on the forum will support you and hold you up. The diabetes list is humming, the breakfast list is coming up with ideas that excite even me, and the pets are plotting. We recently had a bird join the cats and dogs on the pet list. My, oh my, are the conversations lively. And Ranger who is no stranger to danger keeps regaling up with his tales.

Humor and connection heal us. I believe that all the traditions that remember the light at this time of year can help us remember our own inner light. Sometimes it feels that the draw is to spending money and struggling, or rushing around, but it is a time to reflect on healing. No matter what the circumstances you are in this year, invite the light and ask that it fill you.
