Yay, Chelsea, breakfast has started!
I agree with you, I always loved breakfast too, but the within the hour part was my downfall. I'd rather sip my coffee and enjoy my "buzz" from that first, then get a good workout in (which made my head spin!), and then think about breakfast. Not anymore! I'd also be in such a hurry by then that I'd grab some cereal and forget the protein. Again, not anymore!
When you think about protein, try thinking about more density. Milk does have protein, but I don't count it because it doesn't hold me well. I have to stick with things less liquid, like cheese and greek yogurt (the thick stuff). I eat eggs every day and usually sausage, too.
"Jumping the gun" is a familiar story around here - a common SS trait. We all know it well. But try working on one thing at a time, and I think in the long run, that will get you there faster. My DH always quotes Napoleon, who apparently said "I'm in a hurry, slow down"; knowing that speeding through things creates mistakes and doesn't get it done right.
