I really think it's all in the eyes of the beholder.
Different smileys can mean different things to different people.

I actually see to be saying "Whew!", as the guy wipes the sweat off his brow.

And just looks to me like someone resting his chin on his one hand, while thumping the fingers of his other hand on the table, showing that he is confused or stumped.

"Loser" and "the finger" really never occurred to me, LOL.

But I guess it's all about what we see in things.
That's why they do Rorcharsch tests.........different people see different things.

Bottom line, these little critters are there for us to have fun,
and I really think they add 'color' and 'spice' to our posts
