Re: A big slip
In Response To: A big slip ()

: Hi - Last night I had a big slip-up.
: I have been sober since 2004 and
: have rarely felt cravings for
: alcohol. This program has been a
: big help although I haven't ever
: made it thru the steps or been
: very steady on any step besides
: step 1. I had three large gulps of
: red wine last night. :s8( AT first
: I didn't understand why I would do
: this. Our family has gone thru
: something terribly awful this past
: year but I had stayed sober during
: the worst part of it which was

: I realized late last night that I had
: several chocolate truffles last
: week that had alcohol in them. A
: very small amount but enough to
: prime me for more. Of course, I
: realized that I had to get my self
: back over to RR pronto. It is
: amazing to me how strong addiction
: can be at times. I had become
: completely unconcious when it came
: to my program. I wasn't even
: working on breakfast like I should
: be.

: I DON'T want my sobriety compromised
: so breakfast was a protein shake
: with choco almond milk with a
: banana and a brown rice cake. I am
: here and I am humble :s1( and I
: ask for your support. Laura

Hi Laura: :h24)

Good for you for coming right back to RR for connection and support. :h2)

Alcohol is "cunning, baffling and POWERFUL." I think you might be right regarding the priming of those candies. :s4( Also, I think we can be very vigilant during a crisis and then let down our guard when things ease a bit. :s7(

Whenever, I have a slip with my food, I know it's time to begin again with a "beginner's mind." :h26) Back to step one list I go and happily so. I hope you will consider doing this also.

I am a friend of Bill W. and have been going to AA for 8 and 1/2 years now. It has helped immensely to stay sober. :h5) Do you go to AA? If not I would strongly recommend going and also getting a sponsor to help you with your steps in AA. :h10)

I am also on the radiant recovery list which a list designed for alcoholics who are combining the strength of AA and the food to get and to stay sober. It is a powerful combination! :h6)

If you are not on the RR list, go to the top of the website where it says "make connections" I believe, or resources, I am not sure which. Anyway, look under "groups" for the RR list and click join.

I really hope you come over. I look forward to seeing you on the list and here on the forum. :h11)
