You don't need to eat sweet potato skin - it's a complex carb without.
I have to add a lot of stuff to my shake to make it hold me. I add orange fish oil, 1/4 cup each cottage cheese and greek yogurt, and kale or frozen chopped spinach to the protein powder and berries and almond milk. And I use 3/4 cup of rolled oats. What you might try before giving up on shake is increasing the oats and adding a spoonful of nut butter - adding some fat gives it more holding power.
