Hi Leigh,
I'm the same way; my shake never holds me long enough. I even add greek yogurt and 1/2 cup of uncooked oats and I'm still hungry soon. I think there's something about me never chewing that my body/mind doesn't like, too. I do love to use shake pre-workout, as my "1st breakfast" and then eggs & brown rice tortilla as my "real breakfast" post-workout.
Sweet potatoes are brown enough without having to eat the skin.
