Re: Shake Experiments

Hi Colette,

How right you are!
I just googled oats, and realized my mistake :h3)

As it turns out, I was using neither steel cut nor rolled oats, LOL.
I was using minute oats (quick oats)!
I've been away from the States for some time and forgot the name for them.

So even those tiny-flaked oats are too harsh on my stomach when soaked overnight, uncooked, in a shake.

BTW, before RR, breakfast was always a bowl of oatmeal (with no protein :s7( ).
Anyhow, I used minute oats, and had to cook them for about 5 minutes for my sensitive stomach :h19)

Yesterday, I put quick oats, well-cooked, in my shake, but tummy told me whoa! this stuff is too heavy!
I could only have half my shake, and even that was difficult for tummy to process.
I think I will try substituting sweet potato for the brown and see how that works out.

You are certainly right about us all being so different :h8)

: Hi Sarit,

: It's fun to do a google search on all
: the varieties of oats. From what I
: understand, rolled oats have been
: *steamed* and rolled, so cooked a
: bit...whereas steel cut are just
: slices of the whole oat groat.
: Have fun experimenting with
: different shakes. I guess I'm a
: strange one...I like my browns on
: the side, and like my shake a bit
: more runny, not thick. I love how
: we are all so different.
