Hi Brian,
The only emotions I registered for a long time were "happy", "angry",
and "hungry." The sugar blocked difficult ones like sad and tired.
Many of us eat/ate sugar to avoid emotions, so it's pretty normal
to have trouble finding them at first.
I learned to backtrack to find them-IF I was overeating, THEN I must
be feeling something difficult. So I could say "I don't know what
it is, but it must be something sad or painful." Then over time
it got easier to identify.
