Re: sound on computer
In Response To: sound on computer ()

Marie, I think this one may be over my head. It sometimes makes a difference if you leave the computer complete turned off for a minute - like 60 seconds. I have had reboots not work when letting all the electricity drain from the innards will make the guilty party let go of some piece of hardware - like a sound card.

If that doesn't work, then I think you are going to need to deal with your computer manufacturer or Microsoft - I'm making a big assumption that you are using that operating system.

It may be a conflict with the sound card driver or the sound card may have gone bad. Also they can come loose and need to be pushed back in, especially if they were a little loose to start with - it doesn't take much to knock them loose in that case.

So first step - turn it off for a good while - completely off. I hope that will work, because the only second step I know is to call for help. If it were me, I'd also be able to open up my computer and reseat that card and maybe put in one of the spares I have laying around. I would not recommend doing that unless you know how.
