Really, the easiest way is to just follow the instructions to get into chat and if you can get in, then you are okay.

You can go to the chat room any time, so you might want to try it before the regular chat starts. There just won't be anyone there to chat with.

If you don't have Java enabled I believe you will get an error message.

In that case, if you have a PC, all you need to do is follow the instructions on this page:
http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_ie.jsp

This allows you to download and install the FREE - Java Runtime Environment
It's very straightforward.
