Background: Good for you!!! Remebering your old password is great, many lose it forever. Yahoo has a way to help people remember or get it back but if often doesn't work out.
New: Yes, you can get rid of that ID if you want to.
And New Question: OK this is sort of on the edge of my knowledge (i.e. I'm not completely sure). I think the name that shows up is the one associated with your email.
So here's what I think you need to do: Go into your email program that you use for your regular email. I don't know what you use but for example, I use Outlook. In Outlook, if I go into my Email Account setup, there is a place to field that says "Your Name". In that field, I put "Kitty Morel", and I'm pretty sure that's what shows up for me when I send people email, including Yahoo Group email.
If you happen to use Outlook I can tell you how to get to that (Email Account and then click "Change"). Other email programs should have something similar. You can also go into your Yahoo ID and enter a name, but it looks to me like the name that shows up on the list email is the name I put in my own email account, not with my Yahoo ID.
Hope that's all clearer than mud
