Debbie,
There are two ways to interact with the group lists. Both involve sending messages.
1 - you can use email as you ahve been doing. Many people do find this is the most efficient way, but there are personal preferences. One thing I do, is to set up folders in my email program (I use Outlook). That helps me keep the lists separate.
2 - you can read the messages on the web page for the group. If you don't know how to get to the web page for the group, find one of the email messages, and somewhere, eithe rat the bottom, or on the right-hand side, you'll see a link that says "Visit Your Group". Click on that link and it will take you to the group page. (You may have to log in with your Yahoo ID and the password you set up to use with your Yahoo ID.) You can then read the messages on line, as well as post from the web page. If you like that option, you might want to edit your Message deliver option to Special Notices, which means you won't get email from the group unless there is a special notice from the moderator. Tod change your delivery preferences, click on Edit Membership when you are in the web page for the group.
3 - if you prefer, you can get one email a day with all the messages for the day in it. I personally don't like this but some prefer it. This is called the Digest. You just have to be careful that if you pick this option, when you reply, you really need to clean up the email you are using to reply so the email you send doesn't have the whole digest in it, since it can be quite long. If you want to use this option, choose Daily Digest under Message Delivery after you click Edit Membership.
So these are the various options and you just need to think about how you like to work, to decide which one will work best for you.
Hope that helps.
