Andrea,
You definitely don't need a Yahoo account to use the groups. They do something when you sign up that might make you think that, so it's easy to make that assumption. But you don't.

Here's how to change the email address that your group mail goes to.

1 - go to the page for your Yahoo group (you will have to do this for each group that you want to change.
2 - Click on Edit Membership
3 - In the section headed Email Address, there's a link that says "(Add new email address)"
4 - There's a box to enter your email address - the one you are adding (the one you want to use). Then click Continue
5 - I'm not sure exactly what happens from there (I don't have an email address to add) but you should be able to follow the prompts.
