Re: Saving posts from Community Forum

OK, here are the instructions. I might be telling you things you already know since I don't have a way to know how much you already use your computer and what you do with it.

First open a word processor or text editor that you would be using to save the post in. For example, if you use Microsoft Word, Microsoft Works, or Microsoft text editor if you were to take notes that you would save in a file, open a file using that program.

Then, also bring up your browser (if it isn't already open) and go to the post you want to save. If you are already there, then that's fine. The point is you would have your browswer on the forum, and the file you are saving the post in open at the same time.

On the forum screen, use your mouse to highlight all the parts of the forum post you want to save.

Then, press the key (on your keyboard) and the C key at the same time. This copies the text from the forum. (C is for copy)

Then go into your file that you have open in the word processor or edit.
Press the key>and the P key at the same time. This will paste the copied text. (P is for paste)

Be sure and save the file someplace where you can find it.

Instead of the for copy and for paste, some people prefer to use their mouse for the whole thing, even though it takes a little longer. To do the above using your mouse:
1 - use your mouse to highlight all the parts of the forum post you want to save.
2 - click the right mouse button. A menu will pop up - pick Copy off that menu
3 - go to the file you are saving it in. Click the right mouse button. A menu will pop up. Pick Paste off the menu. The text will past into the file.

IMPORTANT: remember to use the rules of etiquette and privacy. These posts should be only for your personal use, to refer to. If you are planning to quote what someoene said to someone else, get the permission of the person who said it. This means you would also need to record the person's name and how to contact them, if they left an email address.

Hope that helps,
Kitty
