:
Great questions, Denise, let me respond right in your note.
Thanks so much for the advice
: everyone. You are probably right,
: I am going through the steps too
: fast. My breakfasts are good,
: oatmeal with berries, nuts and
: Greek yogurt. Or oatmeal with
: turkey sausage and berries, or a
: protein shake with berries and 1
: slice of kamut bread, or a tofu
: scramble cause I can't have eggs.
: Almost always within an hour of
: waking but about 3-4 times a week
: I go to the gym as soon as I get
: up so I eat about 2 hours after.
If you get up and go to the gym and have a workout on an empty stomach,
you will be putting yourself into a blood sugar crisis. My suggestion is that you
have something before you go. Most of us have a shake and then have a second breakfast.
You can play and see what will work for you. But if you are going to the gym that much without eating, I guarantee you
it is creating havoc with your biochemistry.
: I started this about 2 months ago and
: thought, oh I'm going to school to
: become a nutritionist I know all
: this I can just skip some steps.
: LOL but the more I learned I feel
: like the less I know. If I can't
: help myself how will I ever help
: anyone else.
Well, that is a natural conclusion. Remember a couple of things...one, that this is about
nutrition for a sugar sensitive person. I do not know any training that is yet enlightened about
that specific biochemistry. And...most inmportant there are a whole bunch of things that are
embeded in the steps that have to do with changing the addictive behavior (not the least of which is following directions LOL) so if
you skip through them or around, you miss all that.
: So if I'm doing some of the steps
: already, and there pretty solid,
: how do I know where to start and
: how fast to go
Well, you can do step 5 anytime, LOL. I would start with step one, LOL and figure out how to do it anytime and place and under any circumstances including going to the gym.
Then do step 2. And do it well enough to be able to make connections.
I dont know what else you might be doing...supplements? just do them and don't think about them. Doing the potato? Stop and wait on that. Off sugar?
Just don't go there. Work on step one.
? I'm always jumping
: into things fast and wanting
: everything to happen now.
This is pretty typical. You are in great company and everyone is very amused that you are like the rest of us, LOL. But slower is better.
We have
: a vacation planned in September so
: that time frame is stuck in my
: mind to lose weight even though I
: know I have to get stable first.
You might want to join YLD. Then you can start talking about weight loss to your heart's content. And you can
learn about why going to the gym 4 times a week may not be helping with that process.
: Love this thread ! I had similar
Great!
