Sounds wonderful, aside from the rain and freezing under blankets. I remember when my grandmother and I traveled to the UK in June. It was really hot and humid at home before we left (over 90 degrees fahrenheit). I packed summer clothes. Nearly froze the first week we were in the UK. Then the temperature went up to 80 degrees fahrenheit. Finally I wasn't freezing! (Although all the British people were complaining about the heat. I guess temperature is a relative thing - it depends what you are used to.)

: Here is a very british BBQ !
: we were invited to quite a big
: gathering, and I knew it would be
: a case of eating very late so I
: had a snack at my usual
: dinnertime. As a steadying thing,
: I didnt want to fall onto the food
: like one starving
: as it was August, the clouds were
: gathering, I went in my winter
: jumper and sweatshirt , I am wise
: to British BBQs
: My hosts are really thoughtful and I
: knew there would be enough for me,
: but I did take some cheese in my
: bag in case there was a pudding
: dilemma ( and I just brought it
: home again ) They had
: something to suit just about
: everyone, new potatoes, salad, the
: usual meat stuff and halloumi
: kebabs, and trout parcels. They
: had e mailed me foodie details (
: told you they were great hosts) No
: marinades so all was good for me,
: I just didn't choose the sausage
: as you never do know with a
: sausage whats in it
: So the chef got very wet while we
: sheltered under a gazebo. Chucked
: it down with rain for about an
: hour but then it did clear with a
: lovely rainbow
: There were puddings that I wont
: mention I could have had
: strawberries and cream actually,
: but I chose instead another kebab,
: I don't even know what meat it was
: as the chef was burning
: everything, but I really like that
: charred flavour, and some chilli
: stuffed olives. I don't often have
: barbecued food and I do love it.
: So I wanted to make the very most
: of it. There was lots and lots of
: alcohol, we took along our share
: and a bottle of soda water for me
: ( no one noticed that one)
: Afterwards the hostess brought out
: blankets and we sat till very
: late, snuggled up. Well, the
: ladies did, the gentlemen were
: being like brave cavemen , I
: nearly froze to death.
: A really lovely, enjoyable evening!
