Not like bacon, or pork roast. Collins dictionary said :

uncountable noun
Gammon is smoked or salted meat, similar to bacon, from the back leg or the side of a pig.
[British]

we only have it Christmas, and it is roast and glazed for dinner one day,( most people glaze it with something sweet though or buy it ready made, I genuinely prefer mustard and clove - and I prefer the unsmoked version. You can oven bake it or boil it. I always oven bake it as I haven't a pan big enough :h6) . ) Then there are copious leftovers for traditional Christmas day teatime sandwich, along with turkey sandwich and assorted treat things. Boxing day tea, when guests come to visit, of cold meats, plus hot lamb leg, salads, wedge potatoes and things, and eventually the scraps in special fried rice
