Saying hello!

Hi!
I hope this is the right place to do this - I'm new to the program so I just wanted to say hello and get connected a bit, because I KNOW that I can't do this alone! I'm in my late thirties and first heard the term 'sugar sensitivity' a couple of years ago. Once I read about it a little more I pretty much knew that this is what I've been experiencing. I just picked up Potatoes Not Prozac over the holiday and have almost finished reading it. I am so excited to know that there is a way OFF of this roller coaster. As I get older, the thought of not addressing my sugar addiction scares me because I am afraid of the long term damage I've done/am doing by eating the way I've been eating.
So! I just thought I'd take advantage of the Community Forum to reach out and say that I am officially on Step 1! I've always eaten breakfast, but doing it within an hour of waking up and making sure it has enough protein and carbs is new for me. It's been a few days, so far so good. I'm looking forward to exploring my breakfast options! So far it's been protein shakes (which I'd been drinking before I started the program, so I'm excited to see that these are generally well liked within this community) and eggs/toast, etc.
I wanted to mention that I've gone off sugar before but it's always been cold turkey, and with very strict, detailed rules, yes/no (weird) foods, etc. This RR program is appealing to me because it seems a bit gentler/doesn't have a rigid set of rules (aside from the 7 steps and what they entail, of course!)...and just seems more realistic - I guess because it's designed by someone like me, that's the difference. I feel like Kathleen GETS me, which is reassuring!
Anyway, I've already gone on too long - I'm excited to take on this journey and wish you all the best in yours, too!
Lexi
