I can identify with what you are feeling so I am delighted that you are here - nd particularly that you felt uplifted by the YLD chat. That's going to help so much ! and so - yes! I think you will lose weight . Doesn't matter how old you are either, as I look back at my body now and see her just as willing at 59 as she was at 19, but much happier weight wise as all else,with the biochemistry settled by the steps.
I had been yo yo dieter as long as I can remember. I homed in on YLD s another diet book for my vast collection. And felt disappointed at first as I gained a lot of weight
but in retrospect I don't regret that at all, because that experience showed me what was happening and explained why I gained weight so easily it seemed. I kept on because of the support of forum friends I think - that connection. And also the YLD book, because the words were all about me, spoke just to me, specially the beta endorphin piece
then something magic happened at the end of my step three. I stopped gaining weight and my weight stayed steady for the first time in my life. I was astounded at being the same weight and no yo yo. More importantly perhaps I was feeling good, was loving what journal was showing me and really hopeful.
I felt so great that I didn't engage with weight loss much for years, it was so novel just relaxing and not doing all that Great Effort. Which was where I learnt that I don't actually have to "fight" to lose weight.... I actually have all my own body information and communication as easy tools to use, and I'm an expert at that
Long story short I lost the weight I had gained pretty easily ....... found my inner Goddess of Exercise ( nothing fancy I just like walking !) focused on my favourite foods....... Journal being the magical element for me...... and delighted to go on and lost the rest to be just where I want to be. And that has stayed the same for five years now . That maintaining first experience proving invaluable
