Love this question
for me it is an easy answer. What keeps me being entirely happy with what I am eating and how I am feeling? is perhaps a good way for me to think on it. Because I get to eat my favourite foods all the time ! No deprivation.
first of all its being connected with how I am feeling right now, instead of skipping over it and looking to the next thing. Steps taught me that one
it is also powerful for me being very aware of what happens when my food isn't right. I don't want that feeling again. Admittedly my serotonin is a strongish leg I think, which makes it a lot easier to stay in touch with that, so I can simply look away and not be interested., to utilise that choice I have
then * trumpets and drums* I do love my journal........ I have learnt that sugar makes us forget. I know I am affected by certain behaviours/circumstances . I am very aware of all that having tested it all thoroughly just to see Journal is like a beautiful early warning system. It is reliably there like an ultimate security blanket.
for instance, I recently did some travel involving a 3 am start, and somewhat erratic and unknown meals to tackle. Tiring journey, very busy outcome. But because of past experiences getting everything rather wrong for me ( no experience ever wasted !) I now have a set of strategies that keep everything charming as possible. Everything got written in my travel journal and I was able to sail through. Ten, twelve years ago I didn't have those skills, and thought I would never gain them either ! but I did, and still love the learning
