Step 1 - Insights of day 2

Starting day 3 of step one and committed to just doing breakfast. Much more aware of how my thoughts keep trying to push me to worry about future steps or about life in general. One small true victory is much bigger than the thousand things I have done fast with no long-term progress.

As I am thinking about my protein and how to get creative with plant-based recipes I found this great site where I can enter a recipe and it will tell me the nutrition facts. I was able to change ingredients and quantities until I got to the protein, fat, and calories that make sense. I was able to add 10 grams of protein by sneaking in some beans. I am on a quest to make a portable meal bar with 27 grams of protein and brown carbs. I made a few versions yesterday and then realized that I cook by intuition and had not thought about actually measure anything.

I had a big insight when I put my best guess of a recipe into the nutrition facts to see that the protein was much lower than I believed and the fat and calories were much higher. Just a few days into the program and am learning a lot about myself and the power of doing just one thing.
