salad dressings - and portable solutions?

Been travelling about the country recently and made a discovery of something else that would enhance my handbag supplies :h6)

I usually do really well eating out, but this time - maybe it was different geography - I had a real challenge with salad dressings. Funnily enough though the protein options, which sometimes I add a little to, were perfect ! One place, all the vegetable options , roasted vegetable, broccoli, mushrooms, the lot! - they had run out of !! :s7( we were in the middle of nowhere and they had no oil and vinegar, the French dressing was sugar laden. I chose some mayonnaise in the end, covert sugar but me and my journal are at ease with this when travelling . I think they were so amazed by my 20 Questions they gave me complimentary salads and saved me £3.99 ! that was nice of them :h10)

Another place, I was on my third bowl of salad before the light bulb went on that the blue cheese dressing was a bit moreish . Again, no oil/vinegar available. But I did realise it was the dressing I was after and not the cucumber :h6) :h6)

Good enough was good enough though. I wrote it all in my journal and no repercussions, although I have got a bit " interested" in finding a blue cheese dressing that works for out and about. ( am still dreaming about it LOL) At home, I just do mayo, cheese and cider vinegar. Ive not been above taking a whole bottle of Paul Newmans Italian to local restaurants, but it is a bit much on a long trip

as I write, am thinking, not such a bad idea to decant some Paul newman next time. It might keep pretty well for a couple of days unrefrigerated, better than blue cheese ? and exotic enough

this looks like a very good excuse to go to Lakeland, - top kitchen gadget company - to see what leakproof containers I can look at. If you have any recommendations let me know
