Hi Linda. Welcome!
Don't worry, no one is going to suggest that you give up sugar cold turkey. One of the reasons this program works so well is that you make changes slowly, so they are sustainable. Most plans want you to change all your eating habits overnight, and that really doesn't work well.
The program will help with your blood sugar, but not overnight. The first step of the program is breakfast. There are 4 parts:
enough protein for your body
with a complex carb (whole grain, or sweet potato or potato with skin) Oatmeal is a good complex carb, especially steel cut oats
within an hour of getting up
every day
Eating protein at breakfast made a big difference for me. I used to be starving an hour or two after eating breakfast, but with protein, breakfast holds me for hours.
Is there a protein you think you would like for breakfast?
