Allison,
I did have a lovely trip. I had a bit of a frustrating time viewing email the first few days as gmail decided to lock up my account because even though I was on my own computer, it didn't like I was in another country. It wanted to verify by sending a code to my phone.....didn't have a phone because I don't have international service. Wanted to send verification to my alternate email in Hotmail. Guess what?! Same dang problem....couldn't get in there either. My sugar brain got very frustrated with this. I did eventually get in and saw your email. Never did find what the "oat cakes" were but I had stuffed a back with leftover fruit that would go bad if I'd left it at home, a few packets of pbutter, some turkey jerky that I bought at Costco. It unfortunately has sugar in it but only 7g/serving and I at least was getting protein. I also took several types of nuts. So glad I did as there were times I just needed to eat something while driving.
Struggled with anxiety here and there and tried to remember what you said....it's probably the hypoglycemia and lack of structure with my meals. At least that's what I'm clinging to.

: Hi Amy
: I know you are flying today, but
: maybe you will have internet
: access.
: On those travel days when breakfast
: is really early, I just assume I'm
: going to be eating extra meals. I
: bring food with me so that I can
: eat every 5 hours. I don't like to
: rely on buying food in the airport
: because I don't know what will be
: available, and because there may
: be delays. Also, there may not be
: appropriate items for lunch
: available to buy to eat on the
: plane if the flight is leaving
: early. Some things I might bring
: would be sandwiches with an apple
: and vegetables like celery sticks,
: carrot sticks and cucumber, or
: cooked chicken (off the bone) with
: cold roasted potatoes and a cooked
: vegetable. I don't mind eating
: these cold, so that makes it
: easier. You can pick up a plastic
: fork at one of the food places in
: the airport. Whole grain crackers
: like ryvita, finn crisps or wasa
: crisps work as a portable brown
: and cheese sticks are good snacks.
: In Ireland, you should be able to buy
: oat cakes, which are wonderful
: portable browns. I travel with
: almonds as an emergency snack.
: I was on prozac when I started the
: program and I was able to get off
: of it, but I didn't have a big
: serotonin issue so I may not be a
: good example. However, blood sugar
: issues can cause anxiety, so
: getting your blood sugar nice and
: steady should help with that
: problem. You mention hypoglycemia,
: so that could be playing into your
: anxiety. Step 4 also helps a lot,
: when you get to that step.
: I hope you have a wonderful trip.
: Allison
