Re: Worried about opiod medication

:Hi Linda,

My 86 year old aunt just had a full knee replacement and only took the medicine a few times, just to help her sleep. No problems.

A friend of mine with addiction in her family had the surgery and was concerned about getting addicted to the morphine. She took it just for pain, and when the pain was gone she stopped taking it. From what I hear, if the medicine is used properly, for pain rather than for mood alteration, it works as it's supposed to.

Both were so happy to have had the surgery.
