: Hello everybody,
: I'm getting solid on Step One, I have
: the habit and Im now focusing on
: making sure the protein adds up to
: 20g.
: I had a parenting victory yesterday.
: My 12 and 10 yr old boys have been
: fighting badly lately, all kinds
: of name calling and I lose my
: patience. Instead of my usual
: method of not letting them go
: outside, yelling, sending to their
: room, taking away devices, etc. I
: had them write 8 nice things about
: each other on a piece of paper,
: then they had to exchange and read
: them out loud and 'approve' them
: before they were allowed outside.
: They didn't write nice things, but
: exchanging them meant they had to
: read them anyway. So they wrote
: dumb things like "I'm a
: noob." "I'm trash at
: Fortnight" and "I make
: big doo doos." But they were
: laughing, and so was I, so mission
: accomplished. Also they didn't
: write any of the truly hurtful
: things they say, like your teeth
: are ugly, you're fat, you don't
: have friends, which says to me
: that they know when they are being
: mean.
: I hope my more creative approach has
: been influenced by getting
: steadier with food, and there is
: more to come!
: KirAnn
Awesome news KirAnn! I am also hopeful that as I do the steps, my emotions (particularly parental guilt) will stabilize so that I'll be a better parent.
Great, creative idea with your boys!
