mosaic, your posts always make me smile. I was picturing you trying to order tuna and getting nowhere, then trying your American accent for decaf. When I went to Scotland I had trouble ordering seltzer until I learned that it was called fizzy water-no one knew what I meant. Soda water and club soda didn't get through either.

So.great that we've learned to travel and find ways to get what we need-it gets easier all the time :h4)

: Love this suggestion about Subway,
: JoEllen. its a good reminder for
: me in several ways, and as a
: traveller I can find Subways all
: over the world now and even in
: airports where I wouldn't
: necessarily expect them

: I remember a few years ago doing a
: big 'road trip' in USA, and I
: remember some eating places and
: their situations just as well as
: the official "Sights"
: specially a subway in Boston, and
: one at the end of the Staten
: Island Ferry ( seems food does
: always anchor my memories LOL)

: I liked the chopped salad and though
: I always thought to try and get
: some extra protein I usually went
: for chicken and cheese, but it
: wasn't enough really. The tuna was
: much more dense for me and
: satisfying but I never thought to
: ask for two scoops till much later
: on in the trip. Mind you I had to
: call on DH to explain
: "tuna" all the time., in
: subway and in the supermarket
: getting those pouches. No one
: could understand my accent, and
: going tuna ,tuna,tuna,tuna Tuna
: over and over didn't work :h6)
: Neither did tunafish . Or 'decaf'
: was another even when I tried an
: American accent :h6)

: Ah well I have learnt to say, two
: scoops please, for a cheerful
: outcome

: Im glad to have your reminder of
: subways again to keep in my box of
: tricks
