I've recently been experimenting with doing a bulk cook over the weekend. I've started classes that are requiring a lot more of my time, and I want to make sure I don't fall into preparing half-hearted meals in a rush or late because of my new schedule. I like feeling good and don't want to give that up
So this past weekend I cooked several servings each of taco fixings, black beans, brown rice, pasta and meaty marinara, turkey burgers with onions and green bell peppers added, and a heap of baked sweet potatoes (I tried some purple ones! They are tasty!). I put the turkey burgers in the freezer to pull out later in the week. Plus I boiled some eggs for quick snacks, and bought some quick and easy veggies like a prewashed salad mix, and some steam in the bag frozen veggie mixes.
Meals during the week are coming together so easy, and I'm feeling very cared for by myself. I'm trying to decide if it's actually more efficient to do my cooking this way, since I'm multitasking preparing the meals all at the same time... anyways this is my current experiment.
Anyone done this type of bulk weekend cooking before and have tips? Or meal suggestions that work well for cooking ahead and freezing?
I'd love to hear.
