Fish cakes are a great idea, there is a recipe in the RR cookbook for salmon cakes that I really love. I hadn't thought about freezing those but I bet it would work well.
And yeah, learning to prepare food before I get crazy hungry was a major shift! I think that I enjoy my meals more when I plan ahead. Probably because I eat more veggies with my meals that way, and I enjoy meals most when they have an assortment of foods. When I get over hungry, veggies just don't cut it for me, I want browns and protein right way when I'm tanking! Your comment about self care got me thinking about how it's not just the self care of having food ready before I'm over hungry, it's also the self care of the type of meals I make myself when I'm not over a cliff starving. I hadn't thought about that before....
Thanks for the ideas

: That's a wonderful step when we
: prepare ahead to take good care of
: ourselves, rather than wait until
: we're falling off the cliff
: starving and try to cook then.
: I cook a pot of steel cut oats ahead
: of time so my shakes always have
: chilled oats ready. I cook hard
: boiled eggs for my husband's
: lunches and sweet potatoes for all
: kinds of things.
: It's going to be hot this week, so
: this morning I made a
: spinach/broccoli egg pie. I'm
: going to make some tuna cakes,
: which freeze well (can of tuna,
: egg, mayo, mustard,
: quick oats, Mrs. Dash Italian spice,
: salt and pepper, sauté until
: cooked). Veggie burgers with eggs
: are one of my staple meals too.
: Nice to hear you're taking good care
: of yourself.
