It's almost December, and things have already started to get busy. This week we have a reception and viewing of an art exhibit at the museum on Friday. It's an exhibit we wanted to see anyway, and it's sponsored by a company that my husband does business with, so we will go. The event starts at 6:30 and appetizers will be served. I will eat some real food before I leave my office and then I can pick and choose what, if anything, I eat at the event.
On Saturday, there's a volunteer luncheon at one of the places I volunteer, but they are serving lasagna and I don't eat wheat. I could bring something of my own to eat, but it's going to be a busy day so I probably won't go. Then that night is the Christmas party for the other local organization that I volunteer for. It's a potluck, but there is usually a ham so protein is not a problem. Now that I am not eating gluten, it's a bit more challenging negotiating a potluck, so I will either eat something light first or bring backup food. I will definitely bring something I can eat to share with the group.
My holiday strategy is to take care of my food needs, pick and choose what I participate in so I don't get overextended, and make sure to include the things I enjoy about the season. I'll share more about that as we get into December.
