I will miss that wooden spoon. Jim tried to find a replacement, but couldn't find a short one. That one had a short handle, and I used it when I sauteed things. I am sure we will find one eventually. At least that mishap is better than the time I opened the refrigerator door, and my blender carafe fell out and spilled shake everywhere. This time I didn't have to do extensive cleaning,.
We still haven't decided what we are making for Christmas dinner, but we may have roast beef of some sort. If the weather permits, we will go to a wildlife refuge for the afternoon, so that factors into the cooking plans. Actually, I'm thinking a chuck roast in the slow cooker might be the perfect solution. We could put potatoes, carrots and onion in and then Jim could make a green bean casserole. I will make my sweet potato pie, of course. Whatever we have, we will purchase as much as possible early to avoid the last minute crowds. I wish we had grocery delivery! I think it is available in Albuquerque, but we are outside of the city. It sure would be nice around the holidays when grocery stores are mobbed with people.
I well remember the days of taking it personally when the store was out of what I needed. The universe was out to get me, life was so unfair, etc. Now I just think, how badly do I need it, where else could I find it. I can't say I'm never annoyed, but I'm usually not, and it's an inconvenience, not a crisis of epic proportions. If it's something non-perishable that I think might be hard to find, I look online.
Good luck finding your turkey.
