After several experiences of grinding metal spoon shards into my shake by accidentally touching the blades, I've made a rule of NO SPOON in blender while it's running, EVER.
My husband destroyed his blender (we have 2 in the kitchen) last week. He'd rested his spoon on top of the mix, then went to open a new peanut butter jar. When he came back the spoon had sunk into the shake ingredients, so he didn't see it. He started the blender and the spoon blew out of the plastic side into the wall. What a mess, with blueberries and everything.
Good thing we had 2 spare blenders in the basement! House of blenders!
I hope you find a new spoon that you like and have a merry Christmas!
