I find it comforting that so many of us love our wooden spoons. I have one I got in Scotland with a picture of Nessie on it, and I'm convinced it makes things taste better when I use it. Particularly if I'm making food for others, I make sure to use it and I'm confident that the food will then be delicious. I'd be sad if it got broken.
