My goal starting this year was to get back to exercising regularly. My exercise routine got derailed last year due to some physical issues, and then the longer I went without exercising, the harder it got to make myself go to the gym. I am happy to report that for the past 2 weeks, I have gone to the gym 3 times a week. It feels good to me moving and challenging my muscles again. (I hadn't stopped entirely - I did meet with a personal trainer on a somewhat regular basis but we only meet every other week.)
We have also been moving to new offices in our building, so I have been carrying things up and down the stairs, packing etc. Everyone else has moved downstairs so I have to go up and down stairs to talk to anyone in person. I am moving downstairs on Wednesday. I will make a point of using the upstairs bathroom after I move downstairs so I have to climb the stairs regularly. Anyway, it feels good on days when I move and walk a lot instead of just sitting at my desk.
With regular exercise, I need to pay extra attention to food. I eat a small meal/large snack before leaving work anyway because of my schedule, but now I have to make extra sure that I have a generous serving of protein to feed my muscles.
