It seems as if while I was writing to tell you your shake recipe was great, you were writing to tell me more about it. Same wavelength.
I guess I stumbled into using the same amount of milk as you do. I don't like my shakes too watery either so I add more milk at the end. I ended up eating yours with a spoon at first!
The taste of broccoli didn't come through, but since i fresh-steamed it, it was pretty sweet. I've really been lovin' broccoli for the last couple months. I usually toss a couple big handfuls of fresh spinach in my morning shake and I swear I can't taste it. I do use a small amount of berries in it, though. With 6-8 blueberries added, the color is a nice, muddy brown. My husband thinks it's quite.....well, let's just say unappetizing. lol.
This is my first time posting joy dots - i realize they're all bird related
* the finch 'cafe' is full up, with 8 customers
* a bright red cardinal perched above one of the lone maple leaves still on the tree
* a nuthatch imitating a woodpecker, pounding on the suet cage
: I started using frozen broccoli
: because my husband recommended it.
: I used to use frozen spinach but
: didn't like the texture, the
: little bits in the shake. I
: thought broccoli sounded gross
: , but he said it really
: added no flavor to his shakes. So
: I tried it and found that it was
: true. I add it for bulk ( I like a
: big shake) and to get a green
: veggie.
: I should mention that when making the
: "ice cream" shake, don't
: start with too much liquid. I use
: the minimum required to get the
: blender to work, then add a little
: as needed.
