Today for lunch I took chicken, green beans and half a decent sized sweet potato. I had cooked the sweet potato previously and had lost track of when, and when I opened the bag at work, it was funky. I used to keep more back up food at my desk, but a year ago we had a rodent issue at work and weren't allowed to keep food at our desks unless it was in metal containers. So I have back up protein (cans of sardines) but no back up brown at the moment. It's definitely time to buy myself a bag of blue corn tortilla chips for my desk - not the most ideal brown, but it works well enough in a pinch.
2 lessons from this for me - if you didn't cook it yesterday, smell it to make sure it's not funky before you count on it for your meal
