: I tried two new products this week, one good, one not good, and it was: the opposite of what I expected.
: I bought Planet Earth unsweetened: vanilla Oat milk, just to try: something new. I'm generally: really happy with unsweetened: vanilla almond milk by Almond
: Breeze or Silk.
: Well, this oat milk said unsweetened, but it was very sweet. Two other: people tried it and agreed that it: tasted like milk left over after the sweetened cereal. Two thumbs: down on that one! Don't know how: they got away with listing it: unsweetened.
: The good product, surprisingly, was
: Fritos brand bean dip. It says maltodextrin at the bottom, but it: doesn't have any sweet taste or
: "moreish" (as mosaic: says) quality to it. It's yummy: spread on burritos or as a veggie: dip and the texture and taste are: great.
: By the way, as an addendum to the
: Fritos discussion from a couple
: months ago, I tried some organic
: other brand chips that looked just
: like Fritos, but I wasn't
: compelled to eat large quantities
: like with Fritos. It's a puzzle,
: because they looked the same and
: supposedly had the same
: ingredients. But my body found
: them different.
: Anyway, hope you are all enjoying: summer days, those of you in the: northern hemisphere!

Here is a very interesting discussion. https://www.foodnavigator-usa.com/Article/2019/06/29/Oatly-challenged-over-no-added-sugars-claims-on-unsweetened-oatmilk
How the oats are processed affects the available sugars in the product. I couldn't find the brand you are referring to, but if you check it and give me the exact name, I am curious to explore this a little further.
I do know that breaking down the carbs into sugars make things taste sweeter. This is why lactose-free milk is so sweet.
