If you want to join the step one group, you will have to have a yahoo account.
Here is some information on what is involved https://www.wikihow.com/Join-a-Yahoo!-Group

The access to your email is only about the emails in your yahoo account. Most of us
put in an alternative email and use that.

You can also join with Facebook or Google. There are a lot of workarounds for thgings you are uncomfortable with.

If you feel you just can't stomach it, you can always just use our group on facebook.
