Fun at the farmer's market

My husband and I have been going to a farmer's market every Sunday. We originally started going because we were trying to find an artist who sells things there. He makes wonderful sculptures out of tools and assorted metal parts. We had bought a roadrunner whose feathers were made of spoon handles, and we wanted to get another one for our neighbor. We did find the artist. I am not sure that is a good thing, LOL, because now we have a lot of his sculptures, but they are really cool, his prices are very reasonable, and he usually cuts us a deal because we are repeat customers. We really enjoy talking to him and his wife.

While we are there, we buy vegetables and fruit. The produce is grown locally and is organic. We've been getting corn, melons, peaches, tomatoes, cucumbers, kale, Swiss chard, and pattypan squash. We also enjoy talking with all the vendors. One commented on a t shirt I was wearing that had birds on it. Now we talk about birds with him every week. It turns out his farm is right near the house I own in Albuquerque that we will be moving to in about a year. One week I had taken a photo of an owl, and I was showing it to him on my camera. All the other customers wanted to see it too.

I will be sorry when the market closes in the fall. It's a really fun thing to do on Sunday morning after we go birding at the nature center. Plus, we've been eating a variety of wonderful vegetables.
