The chocolate chip cookie test

I'm currently reading the new edition of Potatoes not Prozac. I am partway through chapter 2, Are You Sugar Sensitive? In the chapter, there are 3 tests. The first one is the famous (or infamous) chocolate chip cookie test. It's really funny - I haven't eaten sugar in almost 20 years. I can look at freshly baked chocolate chip cookies without temptation. But when Kathleen described the plate of chocolate chip cookies, even though my response would now be "I wouldn't eat any of them", I could feel them in my mouth. I could remember all the textures, chewing it slowly to fully enjoy every bite etc. I certainly don't get that vivid sensation memory when I think about a plate of broccoli! I guess I must be sugar sensitive, LOL.

Some of the other stuff doesn't describe me - I never liked really sweet milk at the bottom of a cereal bowl, and while my sister ate all her Halloween candy in three days, I rationed mine out and made it last. However, I ate it all slowly and savored every bite, and I guess getting that into every bite of candy, or cheesecake, or whatever, would be a sugar sensitive thing. I remember a friend and I buying penuche (a type of non-chocolate fudge). My friend ate all of hers in about 2 days and made herself sick. I ate a piece every night until it was all gone, but I ate mine in tiny nibbles and had an ecstatic experience with every bite. And my behavior before the program definitely would have marked me as sugar sensitive.

Looking forward to reading some more! I'd love to heard from others about what parts particularly strike you.
