Hi {!firstname_fix},
I am sorry I am forcing you to look at more baby pictures, LOL. When my grandchildren were little, I was still in la-la land. This is a redo of grand parenting skills!
I told you last week that I would do a class on how to do a "family story". I wish to retract that. I will just post what we did on the Radiant Living list and you can have fun with it.
And yes, I am working on the new classes. Honestly, bear with me. My sheltered brain is operating on "pause" which means first I have to remember my name, and then what day it is and then what tasks there are for the day. I am managing the laundry and the dishes and the food. The planning days remain slow although the creative flow is spurting like a geyser in Yellowstone, LOL. I am writing notes on sex differences in amygdala reactions but seem to be incapable to writing a curriculum for a Zoom class. Of course those puppies pictures are not helping.  I am also trying update of our logo and the designer keeps asking what we "do"...try that one for sport, lol. Eat breakfast, laugh a lot, change lives, redeem souls, go back to breakfast. However, I am going to share with her something I wrote for the step one list. I will put it in the article section. Then if you want to comment, you can do that. Where to comment?  I honestly don't know. Facebook, on the community list. Find the place you are most comfortable.
Last week I announced that I had moved the dates for Ranch.  I told you the dates but not the month. It will be god willing and the creek don't rise in NOVEMBER. here is the line from last week, LOL: I have set revised dates for Radiant Ranch on 13-14-15. It will be an extraordinary experience this year.
I hope you are all staying safe. Remember this is not a lockdown. We are sheltering in place to keep ourselves, our friends and neighbors as safe as possible.
I am sending you all light and love.

People are talking, bring your questions and ideas!.It is nice place to get started if you are new to the community and are wondering what to do. Join it now.

GROUPS
We actually are changing our "groups" activity in a pretty major way. We are taking down most of the groups we have done in the past and will focus on overall community communications, and then on some specifics as I offer a class.

CLASSES
We will post the list of class at the website under the "LEARN" link. As I have said above, I am working on the logistics of it and it is slower than you might like LOL.

WORKING WITH KATHLEEN
Coaching is a special offering for people who are serious about enhancing their programs and would like to have ongoing coaching. Kathleen personally runs the coaching groups. This is not a class but is a process to support your progress. We have added a special chat for people in coaching. It meets twice a week to accommodate those who are in Greenwich Mean Time and those who are in USA time.

Coaching is a process where you GET support. You have access to Kathleen,  you have peer support in your process and you get to hear stuff on a way deeper level. And we have just added a whole emotional component to coaching. We have a special place to process how the other people in your life affect your path to recovery.
Coaching includes several options now: Return to Radiance Coaching for those who have done the steps in the past and then drifted and would like to get back on track. This is a good place to plug in if you have gotten wobbly over the last few weeks and would like to restart your program. Skilled Coaching is for people who are steady on the steps and ready to work on Step 7 life skills.
If you wish to join sign up for coaching and then we can talk about which section to join.

I also provide individual coaching called Signature Coaching.  It can help you step out of the craziness of sugar addiction, return to steadiness and clarity after slipping away, slow down and focus on your recovery, or deepen a steady rhythm of recovery. This particular option is especially helpful if you did the steps a while ago and then kinda meandered away. Or if you are facing some intense times and would. like skillful support.
This is a 3 month intensive process that includes doing an in-depth assessment of where you are in the process, designing an individual plan for you and then talking with me once a week via phone or Zoom to work on your progress. You will learn to do an efficient journal and to identify your strengths and challenges. Sharing your journal each week will allow us to redefine and enhance what food is right for you and right for this time in your life.
This is the way to step out of feeling overwhelmed with where to start and what to do. Because it is so individualized, we can work on what is right for you at this point in your journey.  People tell me that coaching helps them feel safe and focused. We work with your style, your rhythm. This is a unique opportunity to release your fear and let go of shame. The guidance can shorten and ease your process so that in 3 months you will do what you might take a year to do on your own. Signature coaching is also an excellent way to tackle any special needs you may have. like wanting to get sober, or dealing with insulin resistance, or integrating doing the food with special medical concerns.

"Doing the food is hardest at this time of year. Don't think of waiting for your next diet, think your next choice."
Testimonial of the Week

I'm just checking in as it's been a while and I want you to know I am still here and reading every word that is posted. I'm still taking a break from typing and trying to deal with my neck/shoulder/arm thing. I did have an MRI done which showed some disc problems. The doc wanted to do an injection in the spine but I'm just going to wait it out a bit more as I have gotten a lot better with rest from typing and therapy.

I did want to report in about my wonderful time in DC with my daughter and friends and how much being involved in this program has literally changed my life. It's hard to describe but I don't remember ever feeling so normal. The food was great, I didn't overdo it. I didn't have to do anything that I felt called attention to myself or raised any issue of any kind. I was happy to just "be." When food just becomes a joyful part of life without stress or drama, well, that's a blessing to me. I feel that I'm progressing through step 6 quietly and thoughtfully. I'm taking time to notice the changes. Changes being how fluid meal prep and planning have become. How I'm not always thinking about food. How my cravings for sugar and food are way down and my attraction to healthy living, much increased. I feel more like an "eat to live" kind of person than at any other time in my life and it is wonderful! Through working this program my unique biochemistry has and is continuing to heal. Who knew?!....lol.

Another huge change is how this has affected my relationship with with my 25 yr old daughter. She has been worried about me for a long while now. About my health and inability to walk and keep up and enjoy life. The last time I was in DC she literally stopped and cried on the street when I was unable to walk around too much and see things. I think it was at that point I got serious with RR and my recovery. Things were markedly different this time. We went every place that we wanted and I felt like I was the leader of the pack! I was joyful and energetic, filled with vim and vigor and the group actually had to keep up with me! This meant so much to my daughter, I cannot even express her happiness over the change in her mother.

The other thing I wanted to mention is that I am down 35 lbs since returning to RR in January. That's an average of about 3 lbs a month and I think that is a perfect way to lose weight. The great thing is that I didn't have to suffer or do anything special. I think through changing my biochemistry by doing the food, my body is naturally releasing the weight that it has held on to for so long.

I can't wait to see what this year will bring! :-)

Kathleen and all, if I haven't said it before, this program has given me a life and I expect more wonderful things to follow. For that please accept my deepest gratitude:)

There is a lifetime membership fee of $99 to join YLD. This means if you go away for 5 years to try all sorts of other things that don't work and come back, you still have a membership and a great welcome!

What do we do here anyway?

Kathleen DesMaisons, PhD

Hi everyone,

I know we all have been kind of quiet in the past few weeks while we have tried to adjust to sheltering and Covid. I have some ideas to share. I found this writing when I was cleaning up my office.

These are not directly "Step One" thoughts, but more about being sugar sensitive and

why this program and this list is NOT about managing cravings.  There is way more to the story than that.

Here is what I want you to know:

Knowing that you are not alone.

It is not your fault.

What you think is causing all this pain is really a gift.

You have a unique Body - a body that was designed for compassion, intuition, awareness, and connection to the divine.

You were HARD WIRED for grace to flow through you and guide you in a life of direction and meaning.

But this wiring comes with a price. Feeling deeply means feeling pain as well.

It means knowing things that others do not get.

It means responding to food in a way that is different from others.

You gain weight more easily

You are soothed by sweets

You have a hard time saying no

You cannot sustain your energy or your intuition

How could you ever get from this place to a place of healing?

You. just do the food

Now, whatever does that mean?

The food creates the balance

The process creates the energetic that allows grace to unfold

Now, whatever do I mean by that.

Is this some sort of woo-woo talk?

Nope, this is so simple that it will stretch

your credibility beyond anything you have imagined.

It isn't hard. It is not complex.

But you have to give up some stuff.

You have to give up the idea that you, as your stubborn,

independent, autonymous self knows what to do.

You have to try something different To Trust.

The program is not prescriptive, you have to learn to trust yourself.

Do the homework, do the food, the steps with an open mind, trust that they work,

stay with it, come back to it.

Trust that there is no failure, there is only learning how to do it with more skill.

Whatcha think?

Kathleen
