Re: Anxiety and heartburn?

Regina, Welcome

I know for me most of my anxiety is not from the heartburn but foods I eat. I have seen the anxiety almost melt away over the years (been on the program for about 3 years). But there is at times such a low level anxiety that is right under the surface. A different type and level than I am used to. That is what I feel when I have heartburn at times. I am the type that will panic if I have a headache thinking it is a tumor. So I am always afraid of something being wrong. So maybe even though I don't realize that I am having heartburn, my body and brain knows and maybe in a way they are in slight panic that something is going on and that something might be wrong. Who knows.

I know for me when I had the really bad case of acid reflux that caused the chronic cough it was due to sugar. I had added it back into my life in a pretty bad way (chocolate - strange because I don't normally like it at all). They say that chocolate is a huge trigger for heartburn. Stopped the chocolate and my cough went away. I did not have to take any medication just stopped the chocolate.

Again welcome
